Modern Elements Skopje is launching a groundbreaking initiative to transform waste into value: converting discarded PET bottles into 3D printing filament. This project is not only about recycling — it’s about creating a circular economy that empowers communities.

By tackling both plastic pollution and economic inequality, this project creates a dual impact: less waste in our community, and more opps for people who need them most. Every PET bottle that is collected and transformed into filament becomes more than just material for 3D printing — it becomes a resource for education, entrepreneurship, and sustainable livelihoods.
The Agenda

Phase 1 — Prototype Development (5000 EUR)
With an initial investment of 5000 EUR, we will design and 3D-print a working machine that shreds, melts, and extrudes PET bottles into usable filament. Each prototype will prove the technical feasibility and set the foundation for scaling up.

Phase 2 — Upcycling Centers (50,000 EUR)
With 50,000 EUR, we will establish a network of community upcycling centers equipped with these machines. These hubs will serve as collection points for PET bottles, education centers on sustainability, and local production facilities that supply high-quality 3D filament.

Phase 3 — Community Income Network (150,000 EUR)
Our long-term vision is a self-sustaining network of low-income families and individuals who will receive recycling machines and training. Instead of earning just 0.10 EUR for every 10 bottles (the current reality), they will be able to convert those bottles into filament and earn 10 to 12 EUR per kilogram. Since a single 1.5L bottle yields about 25 grams of filament, this model represents a 100x income increase compared to current bottle collection schemes.
Why It Matters
Environmental Impact: Each machine reduces plastic waste by converting bottles into usable filament for 3D printing.
Social Impact: Families transition from precarious bottle collection to a stable, dignified income stream.
Economic Sustainability: Filament demand is rising worldwide, creating a sustainable market for recycled material.
Educational Value: Upcycling centers also serve as innovation labs, teaching communities about recycling, engineering, and digital fabrication.

Your Role?
By supporting this project, you are not just funding a recycling machine — you are helping to build a network of empowered recyclers, innovators, and entrepreneurs who can tackle both poverty and pollution at the same time.
